Details

This classic children’s game is actually an ancient Indian board game known as Moksha Patam and has its roots in lessons of morality and karma. Historically, the Ladders represented virtues such as generosity, faith, and humility. The Snakes represented vices such as lust, anger, murder, and theft. A player's progression up the board represented a life journey complicated by virtues (ladders) and vices (snakes). The popularity of this game across history and cultures proves its value, both in entertainment and intellectuality. This game is perfect for helping young children to develop patience and understand turn-taking, not to mention practice their counting. The game can be played with two to four players and with children aged 3 and up. Our version contains a hand painted game board, individual game pieces, a classic wooden colored die and an attractive wooden box to safely store all the pieces for years to come. This beautiful, handcrafted wooden version offers a wonderful opportunity to sit down with your family and friends for some quality time and fun.
